Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Communication (BFA) with a concentration in Forensic Art

Forensic art is a technique of law enforcement used to identify, apprehend and ultimately convict criminals. Forensic art encompasses several disciplines including composite art, image modification, age progression, post-mortem reconstruction and demonstrative evidence. The forensic artist must possess knowledge of victim psychology, post-mortem reconstruction and human aging. Today, these artists use new computer technologies and digital imagery to create more successful investigative images.

The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Communication offers a concentration in Forensic Art that can help students develop art skills and techniques in illustration, painting and modeling for the scientific community. Students begin with scientific illustration and create art using traditional materials and electronic media. Students also study techniques in forensic art and learn about composite and age progression imagery as well as 2D and 3D facial reconstruction. The dynamic curriculum integrates both traditional and digital 3D techniques to help prepare students for entry-level positions in the natural science field.
