About Our Community

AIU Dunwoody is located in the Atlanta metropolitan area, 15-20 minutes from downtown and in a thriving local business district. Including the businesses based in Dunwoody, the Atlanta metropolitan area is home to over 9,000 small, medium, and large high-tech companies and four Fortune 500 companies, including Coca-Cola, Home Depot, BellSouth, and United Parcel Service. It would be hard to find a better place to build real career skills as a student than in the middle of a growing business center. But don't just take our word for it: Kiplinger's recently recognized Atlanta as the fourth "smartest city" in which to live. The rankings were based on factors such as cost of living, economic growth, and cultural activities.

But we know school isn't only about studying. Within five miles of AIU Dunwoody are shopping malls, cafés, restaurants, and entertainment centers. Head into Atlanta and see the world's largest aquarium (the Georgia Aquarium, opened in November 2005). For culture, try the High Museum of Art, recently expanded with the addition of three new buildings and the leading art museum in the Southeastern United States. Its 11,000-piece permanent collection includes an extensive anthology of 19th- and 20th-century American art; significant holdings of European paintings and decorative art; a growing collection of African American art; and burgeoning collections of modern and contemporary art, photography and African art.

For entertainment, there are the Braves and Falcons, of course, and the soon-to-be-expanded World of Coca-Cola, right next to Coca-Cola world headquarters in downtown. Watch classic Coca-Cola commercials while sampling different Coke products from around the world.

Atlanta's music scene has often been described as the "new Motown," with numerous popular musicians calling the area home, and more and more record companies opening offices here. There's no doubt Atlanta's thriving economy and arts and culture scene live up to the name given to it after the 1996 Summer Olympics (which just happened to be held here): "The Capitol of the New South." What better place to study, attend school and start out on a road to the new, more successful you?
